Cause for concern…
Be a responsible tourist. The mangroves you use for kayaking and boating are the nesting grounds of birds. If you disturb them, they will stop visiting Kadamakudy Islands and eventually Kadamakudy Islands will loose all birds to reckless tourism.
Main causes for decline of birds at Kadamakudy
- Increased tourism
- Habitat degradation from pollution which include noise pollution
- Microplastics
- Pesticides
- Discharge of sewage into wet lands
- Sedimentation
- Obstruction of waterflow from unscientific development planning
- Unsustainable agricultural practices
- Increasing urbanization
- Effects of climate change
